On this page we will bring you news of our Royal Python breeding activity and news.
2009
MAY
19/5/09 - The Light Normal has given us our 4th clutch this season, definitely a 'who's the Daddy scenario - Pastel or Spider??
17/5/09 - Our large normal female has now also given us 4 good eggs. She was put to a Spider male and the eggs should hatch at begining of July.
12/5/09 - The Het Axanthic laid today, 6 eggs but 3 slugs. The other 3 have all candled ok and weighed in at 338g so fingers crossed. The Spider shed recently so we are hoping for eggs in June and Bumble Bee's in August!!!
APRIL
14/4/09 - definitely stressful times .... another 5 girls have had their pre-lay shed and another 4 are about to go into shed - our Het Axanthic girl has just shed so we are counting the days till she lays - keeping everything crossed for some visuals !!
MARCH
31/3/09 - Exciting news ..... our first 2009 Royal clutch from our signature 'dark' normal x Axanthic male - only 2 eggs but weighing a total of 234g!!!
16/3/09 - some of our females are now not mating so looks like we are coming to the end of that part of the process! Are these two building?? Banded is just going into what we hope is a pre-lay shed and the het Axanthic certainly looks 'rounder' and has put on 150g despite not eating since December!
February
25/2/09 - well we've had a bit more action our Spider female and Pastel have locked up and our new Mojave male from Scott Wilkinson has locked with one of our normals. The 'dark' normal is getting grumpy and looking like she will be in shed soon - let's hope it's the pre-lay shed!!
New Mojave Male & New Black Back female
16/2/09 - Our 'dark' normal female is positively blooming!! First signs of ovulation on her - the tell tale abdominal lump appeared today :-) She is as yet unproven so hopefully the babies will tell us a little more about her...
And we'll never get tired of seeing this ....... !!!
11/2/09 - well our leo's have started laying as have our Fat Tails but no obvious signs from our Royal girls yet!! Plenty more lock-ups witnessed though - Pastel male x Banded, Axanthic male x het Axanthic, Spider x Dark Normal and so on.
We've added another breeding age/weight female who we are hoping we can put to our late 07 Yellow Belly once she's out of quarantine. Also added male Pinstripe and Lesser to the collection - Carrie likes the look of Kingpins so roll on 2011!!!
1/2/09 - We've witnessed all our males locking so we will keep fingers crossed for signs of ovulation. So far our Spider and Pastel have locked with Pastels and Normals (we're especially hopeful for the Pastel x Banded female lock - banded Pastels - cool!!) and the Axanthic has locked with the het Axanthic, the 'dark' female normal and one other normal. We'll continue to 'cycle' the boys - 3 days on 3 days off until April.
January
We built up our collection during 2008 and are looking forward to the 2009 'season'.
We've a Spider breeding age male and have grown on our het Pied male to breeding size but his mate won't be ready until 2010 - so he'll be twiddling his spurs for a while yet!! Together with our Axanthic and now Proven Pastel males we are hoping to see some more activity in 2009!
2009 will see 6 of our Normal girls at breeding age, our het Axanthic (better luck this year!) and hopefully our Albino and Lemon Pastel females will also be ready. Question is shall we go for Super Patels or Bumble Bees????
